"On Monday, he ate through a whole apple but he was still hungry..."

Not reading, but listening to John Hegley on The Very Hungry Caterpillar (originally called 'Willie the Bookworm' apparently) via the fantastic BBC Radio website. A veritable feast of a book. With holes. Not just the story of a grub turning into a butterfly, as Hegley discovers when he talks to kids, their teachers and Quentin Blake.

Made me think about some other fabulous children's books:
Anything by Lauren Child
The Tiger Who Came to Tea (tx Flambingo)
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly (another book with holes...)
Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen
Meg and Mog
Green Eggs and Ham

Did you know there is a Centre for the Children's Book? It's in Newcastle.
