Before the film is made (Kate Winslet in lead role I believe), I thought I should read 'The Final Confession of Mabel Stark' by Robert Hough. It's a rollicking read, set in the early part of the last century. She hasn't done so yet, but I think she eventually trains tigers and wears white leather suits. What a gal. She's just married her first husband after knowing him a week. She met him whilst giving him a bed bath in hospital - she's a nurse. I don't think this marriage will a. last and b. be her last.
And how happy am I? Me and 'im indoors got a 100GBP Amazon voucher as a late wedding present from a VERY kind friend over the Irish sea. There are various schools of thought as to what to spend it on. Obviously, I'm veering towards, well, books. But now that Amazon stock household stuff, and we've just moved house, it may have to go on a blender or something equally thrilling. Leaving maybe enough for just one book do you think?

I find a mini blender (Braun) works pretty well-you just need to do things in two stages. Have used it loads to make Gazpacho and a special Gazpacho made with avocadoes (bought by the kilo for almost nothing here) instead of tomatoes. So you see, kitchen stuff and still money for books. Ideal.
Have read and enjoyed shadow in the wind. Although got a bit irritated in the middle with the limpid prose...... I will send you my holiday picks separately
