The Murakami, (he's interviewed here in Salon) was glorious. Both subtle, and moving. Plays with the idea of time - explores how what happens in the past affects who and what we are in the present. Is also about our ability to hurt others - and what that means for how we behave, and should/could behave.

Just finished The Stars Can Wait by Jay Basu. Reminded me that everyone has a story. Basu's story is actually his grandfather's. It's gorgeously told in any case.
